From waste to drinking water
VEOLIA France site from 2024
VEOLIA is one of the largest global operators for both industrial and municipal water treatment solutions. SWT and VEOLIA have been engaged in discussions for over 2 years. Since Dec 2023, VEOLIA has been running a pilot to assess SWT’s CAP3D products for converting wastewater (treated) into indirect drinking.
First of it’s kind
In a first of its kind in France, treated wastewater from the Vendee Eau region is being converted into indirect drinking water, by post treating and putting it back into a drinking water reservoir.
Vendee Eau region is working with VEOLIA as a solution provider to develop and explore various technologies to generate a long-term solution for this project.
Constant improvement
The plant currently treats 150 m3/h of wastewater using a combination of Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis (RO). In addition, Vendee Eau region and VEOLIA are evaluating several new technologies/products for improving this solution.
What’s removed
Chlorides
Nitrates
Phosphates
Hardness
DOM
Pesticides
Pharmaceuticals
SWT's CAP3D technology is under assessment as an alternative to the RO, aiming to enhance energy and water efficiency. SWT’s FORS pilot unit is currently operational in the field in the Vendee Eau region, undergoing evaluation for reducing and removing contaminants in treated wastewater.
Our Projects
Municipal wastewater polishing
VEOLIA and SWT have been working together to evaluate SWT technology for converting treated wastewater into indirect drinking water.
Aquaculture & Aquaponics
SWT is involved in a project in Portugal to supply a water treatment unit to an Aquaponics facility
Water De-hardening
Collaborative innovations by SKF VestaSi and SWT for chemical-free water de-hardening in evaporators, furnaces, and humidifiers are transforming water treatment solutions.
